My Story
Welcome to Clearwater Knits. I started this site on GeoCities in 1997, as a place to share patterns and tutorials for knitting machines. It was moved to a permanent hosting company in 2002, after Geocities closed, and has been online continuously since then.
My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was six, and to knit when I was eight. I got my first knitting machine, a Brother KH800 in the winter of 1973-74 and a life-long love affair with machine knitting was born.
I was a dealer for Studio knitting machines for twenty-two years and taught classes at knitting machine seminars between 1983 and 2001 until closing my shop and moving to Arizona. I am now fully retired, and enjoy sewing, hand knitting and crocheting, as well as machine knitting. When I’m not knitting, you’ll find me hanging out on Facebook groups or spending time with my family, who have put up with a room overflowing with machines and yarn for forever, bless their hearts!
