Easy Raglan Pullover for Toddler Size 2

Garment finishes at 24” chest, after seaming.
Made on an Lk 150 knitting machine

Materials
2 100-gram balls knitting worsted weight yarn. US ball bands will show this as a 4
3 buttons
Yarn needle
Tension: 6, stockinet, or whatever is necessary to obtain gauge
Gauge: 18 sts, 26 rows = 10 cm/4”. 4 ½ sts, 6 ½ rows = 1”

Ribbing is worked last. Do not reset row counter unless instructed to do so. All increases and decreases should be made by a fashion increase/decrease (also called fully fashioned) method. A 2-prong transfer tool is used in this pattern.

Back and Front

Back and Front are the same; make 2 alike.
Cast on 56 sts with waste yarn and ravel cord, ending with carriage on the right.
RC 000. T 6. Change to main color. Knit even to armhole, RC 50.

Shape Raglan Armhole
Bind off 4 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Decrease 1 stitch both sides every 2 rows a total of 13 times. On RC 78 remove the remaining 22 sts on waste yarn.

Ribbing
Hold cast on edge of back, purl side facing you, knit side toward the machine. Pick up the main color stitches from the ravel cord.
RC 000. T 4. K 16 rows. T 9 K 1 row. Drop every other stitch and relatch ribbing. Bind off, using stitch through stitch method

Sleeves
Make 2 alike.
Cast on 32 sts with waste yarn and ravel cord, ending with carriage on the right.
RC 000. T 6. Change to main color. Knit to RC 6. Increase 1 st both sides and on every
following 6th row a total of 7 times. There are now 46 sts. Knit even to armhole, RC 50.

Shape Raglan Armhole
Bind off 4 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Decrease 1 stitch both sides every 2 rows a
total of 13 times. On RC 78 remove the remaining 12 sts on waste yarn.

Cuff
Hold cast on edge of sleeve, purl side facing you, knit side toward the machine. Pick up the main
color stitches from the ravel cord, doubling 3 sts (2 sts on every 8th needle).
RC 000. T 4. K 16 rows. T 9 K 1 row. Drop every other stitch and relatch ribbing. Bind off,
using stitch through stitch method.
Sew sleeves to the back; also join the front to one sleeve only, leaving a raglan seem unsewn.

Neckband
Hold sweater with purl side facing you, knit side toward the machine. Pick up 62 stitches from
waste yarn. Remember that these are live stitches; hang the end stitch of each section onto its
neighbor. Needles on each side of the 3 joined raglan seams will have 2 stitches on it; failure to
do this will result in a dropped stitch that will eventually run.
T 4. K 6 rows T 9. K 1 row. Drop every other stitch and relatch ribbing. Bind off, using stitch
through stitch method.

Placket
Purl side facing you, knit side toward the machine, pick up 27 sts evenly along the sleeve raglan
edge. T 6. K 1 row. T 9. K 1 row. Bind off, using stitch through stitch method. This creates a
very narrow, stable edge along the raglan.

Purl side facing you, knit side toward the machine, pick up 27 sts evenly along the Front raglan edge.

T 6. K 1 row. Make buttonholes. Counting from the neck edge, transfer the 4th st to the 3rdneedle. Transfer the 12th st to the 11th needle, and the 20th st to the 19th needle. Bring the emptied needles back to work position. K 1 row. This creates 3 eyelets, which will be used for buttonholes. T 9. K 1 row. Bind off, using stitch through stitch method.

Finishing
Sew side and sleeve seams, work in yarn ends. Sew on buttons.
This is the way I attach buttons. I like to mark the button placement with tapestry needles.
Smooth toothpicks would also work. It’s easy to adjust the spacing if they aren’t quite correct.
But the real advantage is that sewing over the needles adds just a little ease and prevents
cinching the button down into the fabric.
